Nice to e-meet you, I’m Jessie Megan! You can call me Jess, Jessie, or Megan—whatever feels right. I’m currently a student at the University of British Columbia, studying Statistics with a concentration in Computer Science. If you’re wondering, “Wait, she’s studying Statistics but pursuing UX design? How does that work?”—trust me, I get that a lot. So, here’s the story.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved working with numbers, solving puzzles, and making sense of data. Naturally, I thought I’d end up in a data-heavy career like a data analyst or scientist. In high school, I even completed a data analyst internship, which felt like the perfect first step.

But during that internship, I got curious about other roles and asked my manager if I could explore different teams. That’s when I discovered UX design. I didn’t know much about it, but I’ve always been drawn to creative work, so I decided to check it out.

When I learned that UX design blends data and design—two things I genuinely enjoy—it felt like the perfect fit. I realized data plays a huge role in shaping great designs, and I could use my skills in both areas to create meaningful solutions. That was my lightbulb moment, and I’ve been pursuing UX design ever since.

So here I am, a stats major with a love for UX design, combining the best of both worlds to make life a little easier for people like you and me. It’s been quite the journey, and I’m excited to keep learning and growing.
